The social media platform We Don’t Have Time is the largest online platform for climate action. Not only has Prime Computer entered a partnership with «We Don’t Have Time» to equip their headquarter in Stockholm, Sweden, with the latest IT-Hardware from Switzerland, we have also joined forces to work towards a common goal: accelerating the transition towards a circular economy. That is why Prime Computer proudly presents this year’s CIRCULAR ELECTRONICS DAY at «We Don’t Have Time’s» COP26 Backdoor-event, a side event of the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.


COP26 is the biggest and most important climate-related conference on the planet. COP26 stands for 26th Conference of the Parties, and the summit will be attended by the countries that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1994. “Without decisive action, we are gambling away our last chance to – literally – turn the tide”, said UN Secretary-General António Guterres ahead of the summit.


Climate change has gone from an unpleasant, insignificant issue to a life-threatening emergency over the past decades. “Everything is happening way faster than it happens in ‘The Ministry for the Future’,” says sci-fi author Stanley Robinson of his latest novel, where he envisions how climate change will impact our planet and depicts a depressingly realistic future for our society. In 2015, the Paris climate deal set the goal to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial temperatures by targeted measures. This year’s conference is crucial to set the 1.5°C-goal into action to prevent the loss of habitat of a third of the mammals in the world, protect Philippines’s capital Manila from submerging by 2050 and decrease the length of droughts just to name a few consequences.

E-waste is the world’s fastest-growing domestic waste stream according to the United Nations’ Global e-waste monitor 2020. Its disposal contributes to climate change due to the chemicals released when e-waste is burned as less than 20% of this waste is formally recycled. At the same time, scientists say that information and communications technology (ICT) can enable a 20% reduction of global CO2e emissions by 2030, provided the right measures are taken.

To tackle the threats of the climate crisis, we as Prime Computer therefore strive for a for a truly circular economy where we apply the 3 R’s of the environment: Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. We take back large quantities of used IT devices and reintroduce them into the cycle through a certified partner. People in weaker economic regions can benefit from functional IT there.
