Our PrimeStation Pulsar was put under the microscope by Swiss IT Magazine, c’t and brack.ch and underwent an endurance test. We have summarised the test results of the three independent magazines here.

Configuration

The following configuration was tested:

  • Ryzen 7 Pro 5750G
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 1 TB NVMe SSD (at brack.ch: 500 GB NVMe SSD)
  • 1 TB 2.5″ Samsung Evo SATA III SSD
  • Intel Wireless AX200
  • Windows 10 Pro

Equipment, Design, & Packaging

In addition to the workstation, the contents of the box include the power supply unit, WLAN antennas and a USB-C audio adapter. All three test magazines were immediately struck by the elegant design and the high-quality workmanship. For example, brack.ch writes that the LED lighting of the PrimeStation Pulsar gives the device a “futuristic look” and that the all-aluminium, matte black heat sink is both compact and solid. The IP51 certification also protects the device against dust and dripping water. In addition, the trade magazine c’t highlights the PrimeStation Pulsar’s large selection of connections.

Sustainability

The PrimeStation Pulsar already scores in terms of sustainability before it is even unpacked: according to Swiss IT Magazine, the packaging, which is made of one hundred percent recycled cardboard, takes our sustainability claim into account. Furthermore, it is positively noted that all emissions generated during production, transport and the first five years of operation are compensated.

Samuel Poznicek
"Anyone who really takes environmental protection and sustainability seriously makes a very good choice with a computer PC from Prime Computer: plastic-free packaging, housing made of recycled aluminium, durable components, good reparability - the manufacturer has put a lot of thought into this from A to Z."
- Samuel Poznicek, Content Marketing Manager bei brack.ch

No beeping, no noise – just silence

Swiss IT Magazine reports a positive “shock” when switching on the PrimeStation Pulsar: “The Pulsar workstation makes absolutely no operating noise, making it perfect for work scenarios and users who value silence and concentration – such as creative people, software developers, scientists and generally people from the knowledge working sector.” c’t and brack.ch also confirm that the PrimeStation Pulsar performs completely silently even under continuous load.

Power

Brack.ch, c’t and Swiss IT Magazine have put the PrimeStation Pulsar through its paces. This includes performance tests such as Cinebench R23 or Geekbench 5.4.3. In the Compute test, which measures the performance of the graphics processor, the PrimeStation Pulsar even outperforms many Ryzen 7-based systems according to Geekbench Browser. And the workstation from Prime Computer also performs excellently in all other performance tests and places itself in the upper midfield. In the tests, attention is also paid to the heat development of the device, and it is stated for the PrimeStation Pulsar that the device does not run hot even at full performance.

“It is hard to imagine that the performance of the system ever reaches noticeable limits in everyday work” – SWISS IT Magazine

“Very good – so despite passive cooling, the system can make good use of its hardware” – brack.ch

“For their money, buyers get a solidly manufactured and thoroughly chic device that doesn’t make a sound even under continuous full load” – c’t

Conclusion

All three test reviews consider the PrimeStation Pulsar from Prime Computer to be a “very successful piece of hardware” (SWISS IT Magazine) that delivers what it promises. Whether in terms of design, performance, noise-free operation or sustainability – the compact system can rightly be described as one of Prime Computer’s flagship products and has already been nominated for the Green Product Award 2022.
